New City Volunteer Firefighters Welcome Community At Firehouse

Open house, fire safety programs draw many visitors.

The New City Fire Department hosted members of the community at its open house Sunday, which also doubled as a fire safety program designed to educate children about the dangers of fire.

In addition to talking to children about safety, the volunteers of the New City Fire Department also made sure there were lots of fun things at the firehouse on Maple Avenue for kids to do — like checking out the fire trucks and taking a ride on a big slide and plenty of cotton candy.

During October, firefighters also remind members of the community to replace the batteries in their smoke detectors in their homes and to make sure they are working properly.
