Senator Carlucci Sponsors First Blood Drive

Senator David Carlucci sponsored his first blood drive in conjunction with the New York Blood Center on Friday. About 20 people signed up ahead of time to donate at the Street Community Center in New City and walk-ins were expected as well.

Carlucci said he hopes to help meet the need for blood donations with more blood drives in the future.

“We’ll try to make it a more regular event,” he said.

Among the donors who arrived in the first hour of the four and a half hour blood drive were Max Crisp, owner of American Burrito in New City, and Jo Anne Pedersen, Clarkstown’s Superintendent of Recreation & Parks.

Pedersen said she has been a regular blood donor since she was 18 years old and donates at least twice yearly. Members of Carlucci’s staff welcomed donors and escorted them from the donation area to the refreshment table.
