Two Boys Collect, Donate Baseball Equipment for Charity

Get rid of old baseball equipment in your closet and help this duo help other kids.

Derek Schoeps and Logan Meda are collecting used baseball equipment for their joint Bar Mitzvah projects.

They're working with an international charity, Pitch in for Baseball, which provides new and gently used baseball and softball equipment to boys and girls in the United States and around the world who want to play ball but lack the equipment to do so.

"Our goal is to collect as much equipment as possible over the next few weeks and months and make a substantial donation to Pitch in for Baseball,” they said in their fundraising letter.

Die-hard baseball players and fans, they've been playing since they were little, on teams including New City Little League, The New City Generals, JCC Rockland Jr. Maccabi; and, this upcoming season, the JCC Rockland 14U Maccabi Games in Detroit.

Here's what Logan and Derek are looking for:

  • Bats
  • Gloves
  • Catchers Equipment
  • Protective Gear
  • Helmets
  • Baseballs / Softballs
  • Incrediballs
  • Cleats
  • Uniform Pants
  • Equipment Bags
  • Umpire Gear
  • Bases
  • Batting Tees
  • Pitching Machines
  • Batting Gloves
  • Baseball Caps

To make arrangements to donate equipment, contact them through their Facebook page. You could also email them at LoganandDerek2014pifb@gmail.com

If you're not hoarding old equipment but would like to support their effort, there are a couple of things you can do: purchase something new and donate it, or make a financial donation.
