Investigating Mysteries Author Visit

Big Brothers Big Sisters Fundraiser
Zinburger Wine And Burger Bar at The Shops At Nanuet celebrates its grand opening with a three-day fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rockland County. Learn more details here.
Rockland County Legislature Committees
The Rockland County Legislature’s Planning & Public Works Committee will meet at 7 p.m. followed by the Budget & Finance Committee at 7:30 p.m. The meetings are open to the public and take place held at 11 New Hempstead Road in New City.
Clarkstown School Board
The Clarkstown Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. in the Felix Festa Middle School Auditorium with a presentation by CSArch, an architecture/engineering/construction management firm. CSArch representatives will discuss the findings of their report on the structural integrity of Congers Elementary School along with their recommendations for its future. They will answer questions from community members.
New City Library Board of Trustees
New City Library Board of Trustees will meet in the Storytime Room at 5:15 p.m. The agenda includes reports from the nominating committee and voting procedures for 2013. Three trustee seats are up for election on Wednesday, Dec. 11.
Back in the Bronx
Former Bronx residents will enjoy a slide show of photos from their old stomping grounds. The free program at the Haverstraw Kings Daughters Library in Garnerville begins at 7 p.m. Get details here.
Wednesday, Nov. 13
Town Hall TrainingThe Rockland Independent Living Center and Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski will host a Town Hall Training at the Fire Training Center in Pomona from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The training is designed to teach and empower local communities how to better include and respond to people with disabilities including the responsibilities of municipal employees in addressing the needs of persons with disabilities.
Clarkstown Veteran’s Ceremony and Freedom Causeway/Adopt-A-Spot Dedication
The Clarkstown Town Board will thank veterans and officially dedicate the Freedom Causeway, which will be lined with American Flags. The ceremony will take place at Congers Road near Strawtown Road in New City at 10 a.m. Town officials will honor the 2014 Rockland County Veteran of the Year. Those involved in the Adopt-a-Spot project near the causeway will be recognized.
Rockland County Legislature's Environmental Committee
The Rockland County Legislature’s Environmental Committee meets at 6 p.m. at 11 New Hempstead Road in New City. The meeting is open to the public.
Rockland Business Association’s Annual Celebrity Dinner
The RBA Annual Celebrity Dinner features Guest Speaker Joe Connolly, business commentator with WCBS Newsradio and the Wall Street Journal. The evening includes a cocktail reception, dinner, guest speaker and Viennese Dessert Table. The Nanuet Chamber of Commerce holds its first fun networking and business expo that is also a fundraiser for the chamber's High School Scholarship Fund. Local businesses will show off their products and services and provide gift certificates and discount coupons to everyone in attendance. $20 buys food all evening at the Comfort Inn on Route 59 in Nanuet starting at 5 p.m. There will be raffle prizes and a 50/50 with all proceeds going to the Scholarship fund. The Clarkstown School Board is holding a regular meeting at 8 p.m. at Felix Festa Middle School.
Latkes Lesson

Friday, Nov. 15
Rummage and Tag Sale begins at 9 a.m.at St. John’s Episcopal Church at 365 Strawtown Road in New City. The sale will also be held on Saturday.
See "Pygmalion," the comedy classic by George Bernard Shaw on which the musical, "My Fair Lady" is based, performed by Clarkstown South High School students. Performances are Friday, Nov. 15 at 8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16 at 8 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. at the Clarkstown South High School Auditorium at 31 Demarest Mill Road in West Nyack.
