The Think Tank Realtor’s Event

The Think Tank Realtor’s Event begins at 11 a.m. at 55 Railroad Ave #4 East in Garnerville. The free program will introduce realtors to their stagers who furnish empty homes to make them more visually interesting. The Think Tank also "stages" homes that people are moving into and will perform a "daykover," which takes a client's existing possessions and organizes and places them in the house so it is ready for them to move in. BLAST Games Launch

The Clarkstown Parks & Recreations is offering BLAST Games, described as “play with a purpose.” Coaches teach athletic movement, physical development, and sportsmanship through a variety of old school games and physical challenges such as Capture the Flag, Monarch Tag, Obstacle Course, and Scatterball to girls and boys in grades six through eight. The five-week program starts at 4:30 p.m. at Congers Community Center and costs $90. A Saturday program is also being offered. Find registration information.  

Rockland County Legislative Committees 

Four Rockland County legislative committees will meet tonight. Public Safety is scheduled to meet at 5:15 p.m.; Multi Services at 6 p.m.; Planning & Public Works at 7 p.m. and Budget & Finance at 7:15 p.m. All committee sessions are held at 11 New Hempstead Road and are open to the public. 

Scrapbooking It

The New City Library offers Scrapbooking It at 7 p.m. Crafter Carolyn Travers will show you how to use professional tools, stickers, die-cuts and paper to showcase your special memories with a scrapbook. Participants must bring their own pictures; all else will be supplied. There is a $5 materials fee and registration is required. Call 845-634-4997, ext. 139. Learn more.

The Clarkstown Town Board holds its first workshop of 2014 at 7:30 p.m.

Help Smash Hunger 

Eat at Smashburger and help Meals of Wheels. Smashburger will donate a percentage of today's net proceeds to Meals on Wheels. Meals on Wheels Programs & Services of Rockland, Inc. serves the homebound, seniors and others in Rockland County through a multi-purpose agency which focuses on nutritional, recreational and social support programs. Thursday, Jan. 16 

New City Library Board of Trustees 

The New City Library Board of Trustees holds its Annual Board Meeting at 7:30 p.m., which will be followed by the monthly board meeting. The board is expected to vote on new officers – president, vice president, treasurer and secretary.

ARC Of Rockland’s Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Awards Ceremony 

ARC of Rockland will honor Alex Messer of Valley Cottage and Alan Albert of Pearl River during its Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Awards Ceremony at 9:30 a.m. at its Congers location. Get more information.

Battle For the Belt Fundraiser

The first ever Battle for the Belt is a charity wrestling match between rivals Nanuet and Pearl River. The 6 p.m. event is held in conjunction with "Senior Recognition Night, " dedicated this night to the memory of Tommy Scognamiglio.  He would have been a senior this year at Pearl River High School. All proceeds from the event will go towards the Tommy Lollipop Project and the Tommy Scogs Foundation. Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for students in grades seven to 12 and free for those in grades six and under. There will be food, raffles and t-shirts. Read about it.

Friday, Jan. 17

Valentines For Soldiers 

Families are invited to make valentines for soldiers at the New City Library. The program begins at 3:30 p.m. Drop in and create heartfelt cards for American soldiers serving overseas. All materials, as well as delivery, will be supplied. Get details.
