KKK dwindling to less than10,000 members? Not just renaming themselves the Tea Party.
Rick Langley April 24, 2014 at 03:02 pm
@Gerson Goldstein You can say God in school, just like the Klan can say what they wish. SchoolsRead More can't force God on kids. You don't seem to understand the 1st Amendment.
J Leland April 24, 2014 at 03:15 pm
KKK breaks into a few homes and then comes to the rescue. An age old strategy.

I'm planning a surprise for my supervisor's birthday tomorrow :) Mr. Tanner, it sounds like youRead More could use some kindness yourself. Do you have a favorite place to get coffee in town? I would be more than happy to treat you sometime and get to sit and chat with you there. Please let me know

Thank you Alison I was thinking the same thing....

No. It's a gateway drug to heroine, cocaine, ecstasy, etc. look at Amsterdam drug use if you wouldRead More like to do a study on it's effect. It destroys lives, or teens in particular.
Rick Langley April 24, 2014 at 02:35 pm
Pat, It is not a gateway drug. Alcohol is the gateway drug (Yale study published in Journal ofRead More Adolescent Health, Aug 2012). 80,000 Americans die every year from ALCOHOL overdoses (CDC, 2011). 0 have died from a marijuana overdose. I've been to Amsterdam. Cops in Amsterdam don't get shot from trying to arrest pot dealers, because pot dealers have stores and they pay taxes. The Netherlands doesn't waste money imprisoning people for pot. http://www.jahonline.org/article/S1054-139X(12)00231-5/abstract

Someone dragged it in and you went for it.
Pat Kittle April 24, 2014 at 03:55 pm
"bg robbins" -- Yes, that "someone" was YOU -- on "April 24, 2014 at 08:42Read More am" to be exact, you dragged an "ethnic minority group" into this discussion (which has nothing to do with race), piling on as much white guilt as you could. (Unless you remove your comment, it can still be seen.) Self-pitying loser.

I don't disagree with you that we're becoming less and less a free country but it's wrong to blameRead More democrats alone. It wasn't dems alone that passed the patriot act. It hasn't been dems alone that have been re-uping it since it was passed the first time. On how bad Hillary will be as a president. Every president is bad in some ways. Reagan raised taxes more than a dozen times. Bush took us to war on two fronts with no way to pay for it. Clinton signed DOMA and DADT. Obama gave away the farm in order to get the Affordable Care Act passed. Papa Bush said that atheists shouldn't be considered Americans. Sure Hillary will be a bad president in some ways.... they are all bad in some way. I can tell you this much though, any president is going to be a worse president when the publicly stated goal of the opposition is to obstruct that president at any and all opportunities. The dems did it to Bush. The republican'ts are doing it to Obama. It's like Palestine and Israel, they'll fight to the death out of spite and habit, neither one of them knowing which one threw the first punch and not caring because winning is the only goal. What America needs are citizens that go into government for the good of the country instead of the good of their party.
Michael Hipp April 24, 2014 at 03:03 pm
Oh, one last point on your last post B. Dub. "Hillary presidency combined with a DemocraticRead More Congress." Ain't gonna happen. Republicant's have gerrymandered the states to absolute death. They have the House for the foreseeable future and they have a good chance at getting the Senate. I can't guarantee you who's going to win in 2016 but I can very well guarantee you that no one party will take executive and legislative branches, both.

this "to me" is not funny, the swat teams are used for serious issues, hostage taking,Read More etc. to have a swat team called to a home behind a video game is stupid, these swat members are trained to save lives, etc. to be called to a home behind a video game is not funny, what happens if a REAL call comes in and swat is needed there, I hope they catch the idiot that called swat and he gets what he/she deserves

with caller ID they should be able to point to the caller. Sorry but an out of state telephoneRead More number should be a tip off.

Dick (past commander of Post 373 in Nanuet VFW) extend our best wishes for a safe and movingRead More experience in Washington D.C. WaterD.. as far as i know the water company is guaranteed to make a profit just like insuranceRead More companies are. how much did water consumption go down in the summer since the 50% increase went into effect.and how much of it can be attributed to personal use and not changes in landscaping design. It was not, but if the increase was meant to compensate UW for a unknown and yet to be determined loss of revenue due to less water supplied how did the come up with 50%, what if there was no decrease, what if there was an increase, who get the cash and why.Without looking at the numbers i will go out on a limb and say the 50% increase has increased, not decreased or kept constant UW's bottom line for no extra service, if it did not they would have been crying a long time ago. They need to rescind this increase and see what happens.we got 1 week carlucci If i am right what did they do with the extra money. I truly doubt water consumption went down 33 1/3% and anything less in terms of decrease is money in the bank for no work It is a little ironic the the meeting is at FFesta. I encourage people to look at the road patchwork as they drive on germonds from Bardonia rd to FF.Where for most people a water main repair is an anomoly, that is not the case here. UW spends such a significant amount of time fixing the main there that they may want to think about erecting a remote station on the traphagen property just to be close to that locale. Everything needing building in ctown seems to land right about there so why not. to be fair to UW they do not dilly dally like the town or county hw depts and the patches are pretty good

Hmmm . . . I keep hearing paranoia from left and right, but how are we to truly evaluate theRead More education we are paying for? Like so many issues that confront us today, there is no light; only heat. No method will be perfect. And, no disrespect intended, but I'm not sure parents are best situated to evaluate the efficacy of their children's education. After all, most were products of the very system we so desperately need to improve. We need SOME objective measure. Any ideas?

@Charles Taite - As one of the commentators responding to and to whom Black Panther of PoetryRead More responded I happen to agree with you. I don't know whether Patch removed him or whether he did so himself. I for one did not flag any of his comments as offensive regardless of my personal dislike of some of the comments he made. If Patch did so shame on Patch. P.S. As much as I have issues with what he wrote he is no where close to the KKK for bigotry or racist beliefs or talk but your point is well taken.

Everyday Mathematics is just one of the programs that makes a heck of a lot of $ off of the millions of textbooks sold to schools that teach to the 'Core.' The Common Core isn't just restricting for teachers & students, it's lining people's pockets.

Gary's post is full of falsehoods.
CowDung April 24, 2014 at 12:22 pm
"Agreements or addenda" are not part of the Common Core. Again, if states are doing theirRead More own thing by adding stuff or agreeing to do something different, it isn't Common Core.
Millsey April 24, 2014 at 02:46 pm
If it's on the internet it must be true? A small group of parents make up some "facts" andRead More post it on random news sites. So it must be true? I'm in favor of trusting the actual sources of the program over a blog that someone created because they are afraid of their kids getting a better education.
