Applications Available For Three Library Trustee Seats

Individuals interested in running for one of the three New City Library trustee seats up for election must submit an application by Wednesday, Sept. 18.

The terms of Tom Ninan, Jeffrey Greenberg and Matthew Mulrooney end in December. Currently, Ninan is the board president and Mulrooney is the board treasurer. Newly elected trustees would begin their terms in January.

The application can be found at www.newcitylibrary.org or picked up at the library. Candidates are asked to provide basic information about themselves and provide a written explanation about why they want to serve as trustee. The application includes an overview of trustee responsibilities.

The nominating committee of the library’s board of trustees will review all applications. Anyone running for trustee must be a New City Library member in good standing, cannot be a library employee or an immediate family member of an employee. Candidates must have a New City Library card for at least 180 days prior to the election.

Library members who want to run for trustee and are not selected by the nominating committee can submit a petition. The petition must use a specific form provided by the library and be signed by 20 library members. The petition must be submitted by November 13 and must be fully completed.
