The Sleaze Factor in Politics – Not Wanted in Clarkstown

Anonymous defamatory flyers, secret set-up recordings, and intimidation, all focused on the race for Superintendent of Highways between Mr. Ballard and Mr. Malone – this is not the politics that I want in Clarkstown – how about you?

I suggest that much of these politics have their origin in Mr. Frank Sparaco. I do not know that for sure, but there is strong evidence. I will endeavor to share with you what is evidence and what is my best effort to make sense of it.

To start with the defamatory flyers: While they attempt to support Mr. Ballard’s campaign, they are not sending the message on which Mr. Ballard has been focusing – status as an engineer and services provided. Mr. Ballard may have approved the flyers, but they are not his style. Furthermore the flyers attack one of Mr. Ballard’s employees, who happens to be Mr. Malone’s daughter. That is unlikely to be the way that Mr. Ballard handles his relations with his employees. I also cannot see Mr. Ballard using Photoshop to create multiple false images.

The key piece of evidence linking the flyers to Mr. Sparaco is the allegation of an FBI investigation. That is patently false. It is based upon the idea that Mr. Sparaco provided the FBI with his edited tapes and therefore there is an “investigation.” Mr. Sparaco attempted to suggest that before in his “press conference” but it has no foundation.

This brings us to the secret recordings: Here Mr. Sparaco’s role is quite clear, only it has not been fully explored. The question has been raised about why a meeting occurred. The answer is because Mr. Sparaco insisted multiple times on a meeting until finally Mr. Malone agreed, but only with someone else in the room. In other words this was set up by Mr. Sparaco for political purposes. Then Mr. Sparaco made every effort to turn the conversation to try to catch something that he could use to defame Mr. Malone. That is clearly is what is on the rest of the tapes. That effort to draw out a statement that could be used shows exactly what sort of politics Mr. Sparaco prefers.

As for the intimidation effort against Mr. Malone’s family: it involved punctured tires and a dead bird in the mailbox. There is no evidence that it is linked to Mr. Sparaco, but it is definitely "dirty politics." It is not what we want in Clarkstown.

Mr. Sparaco: I do not care where you learned the sort of “dirty” political behavior of which you have been a part, but such behavior is unacceptable in your chosen residence of Clarkstown.

Clarkstown voters: To say no to this behavior I suggest that you not support any campaign that uses it.
