Haverstraw Committee Free Thanksgiving & Christmas Dinner

For the 19th consecutive year, the Haverstraw Committee for Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinner plans to provide over 800 families with warm dinners on Thanksgiving day.  About 300 of those dinners are home deliveries to seniors and around 50 turkeys are given to families in need.  Our committee is able to make this all possible by the support, donations and volunteers of the community. That being said, the following is a list of donations in need.

Mashed potatoes/Sweet potatoes, Gravy, Stuffing, Tomato paste, Ziti, Salad, Salad dressing
Desserts - Pies, Cakes, Cookies
Plastic Items - Plates with dividers, Utensils, Napkins, Paper towels, Cups, Serving Spoons, Dessert plates, Containers-To-Go, Aluminum Foil, Plastic Gloves
Tray warmers, Garbage bags, Aluminum Trays (half size & large), Table cloth
Bottled water, Apple cider, OJ, Grape juice, Soda, Egg Nog
Cranberry sauce, Green beans, Corn, Green & Red peppers, Dinner rolls, Butter, Milk, Mazola Oil, Vinegar, Salt, Pepper.

On top of donating supplies, we are also asking individuals to donate their time in order to make this dinner a success. Also, if you'd like to help by simply making a tax deductible monetary donation, the Rockland Community Foundation has made that possible by starting a fund for this committee. On Christmas day, the Haverstraw Holidays Meals fund hosts their annual holiday luncheon.  Last year, over 600 children were given a holiday luncheon that included gifts and a special visit from Santa.  For our Christmas event we are asking for gifts for newborns to 14 year-olds.  These gifts include toys, new clothing and for the older children, gift cards (Target, Palisades mall, Kohl's, Staples, etc.) for $10 and up.
