Vikings Wear Pink For A Cure

Clarkstown South fundraiser supports fight against breast cancer awareness and research.

Clarkstown South's Youth Against Cancer Club had its second annual Vikings Wear Pink for a Cure event today, a fundraiser for breast cancer awareness and research.

Pink shirts and sweatbands were sold to students and staff to raise money for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, as well as other non-profit organizations. The event proved to be very successful and raised approximately $4,000, almost double last year's effort.

The day included a school-wide photo and various activities throughout the day, including a "Hope" Wall for students and staff to share memories and encouraging words.  The day was supposed to conclude with a "Pink Out" at the home football game. But the game was postponed from tonight to Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. with athletes and  cheerleaders wearing pink shoelaces and fans also sporting pink to show their support for the cause.
