Help At A Thanksgiving Holiday Dinner

Each day, Patch provides the nuts and bolts of local happenings with our five-bullet local dispatch.  

1) Events: The Haverstraw Committee’s Free Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinner begins at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Quisqueya Sports Club at 25-27 Broadway in Haverstraw. Food items and donations are still being collected and needed volunteers are needed. For their 19th consecutive year, the Haverstraw Committee for Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinner plans to provide more than 800 families with warm dinners on Thanksgiving. About 300 of those dinners are home deliveries to seniors and about 50 turkeys will be given to families in need. To find out how to help, go here.

2) Events: Join the Rockland Road Runners 22nd Annual Turkey Trot at Rockland Lake State Park on Thursday. Wheelchair racers begin at 8:15 a.m. and runners at 8:30 a.m. The race benefits the Marissa Fund to fight childhood cancer and food donations are requested for People to People.
